CHAT UK

 

CHAT UK (Children’s Hospices Across the UK) is a charity project set up by Francesca Lennon, raising awareness for children’s hospices and raising money for Together for Short Lives, the national children’s palliative care charity. CHAT UK operates independently of Together for Short Lives.

 

Personal Data

 

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include data where the identity has been removed (anonymous data).

 

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy notice will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you visit our website (regardless of where you visit it from) and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

In carrying out our work we collect and use personal information about individuals. We recognise the trust placed in us by individuals whose information we use. It is important to us that we are open and honest about the way we use information and we are committed to ensuring that we do so in a manner that is both lawful and respects your privacy.

What data we collect and how we use is

If you contact us for any reason, we may store your information.

This can consist of information such as your name, email address, postal address, telephone or mobile number and the reason as to why you got in touch.

The type and quantity of data we collect and use depends on why you have provided it.

The information gathered about you may be used for the following purposes:

  • To contact you in relation to our charity work.

  • To deal with any correspondence we receive from you.

  • To send marketing communications relating to our Charity, which we believe may be of interest to you.

  • You may receive invitations to various events.

  • If at any time you no longer wish to be contacted by us, please email chatukproject@gmail.com and we will remove your details from our records.

 

Disclosure of details

We will not pass your information to any third parties and will keep your information confidential except where disclosure is required for legal reasons (i.e. by police, charity commission etc).

 

Family stories

Some families kindly tell us stories about their experiences to help CHAT UK in raising awareness for children’s hospices and for our fundraising, including details about the health of their child. We will record the details of the story, and contact details in a secure location to enable us to get updated approval to use the story.

The safety of children is very important to us. If we display a child’s case study we do not display their personal or contact details.

We will keep this data for three years after you give it to us, and will always contact you each time we wish to use it.

Photographs

Families, members and supporters kindly let us use images and video content of them to help bring the work of CHAT UK to life.

We keep these images stored in a secure location and will only use them with the subject’s permission.

We keep these images for three years after we have been given them, unless you ask otherwise.

Supporters

If you support us, for example by signing up to an event or donating, we will usually collect your name, contact details, and whether you would like to be contacted, and how we would do so.

We use this information to thank you for supporting us and to provide you with further communications about our activities according to your preferences and interests. We also use it to fulfil our legal responsibilities for financial and Gift Aid reporting.

We will keep your data only for as long as necessary. All donations go to the Together for Short Lives National Fundraising Scheme. If you have kindly donated to CHAT UK through Together for Short Lives please read their privacy policy for the relevant information.
